LIVING WILL

Most people in this day and age write wills so that their wishes can be done once they pass on. Wills are often a source of frictions between family members but they often give us a glimpse of what a person stood. There is one will that has stood the test of time and the owner never wrote it! He said it from the cross to express His love for the world. His will, according to most preachers contains 7 cardinal statements which summarize his ministry on earth. The number 7 is crucial because it signifies completeness. Nothing can be added or taken away from the will of Jesus Christ. These statements were recently celebrated at Easter and appropriately so, because a will is usually opened after someone has passed on. The 7 statements from the cross which we (the redeemed) are privileged to claim as ours are: 1. Forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing. 2. Today, you will be with me in paradise. 3. Here is your mother (the Lord loved our mothers). 4. My God my God, why have you abandoned me? [Jesus was abandoned for a period of time to take on our sins]. 5. I am thirsty 6. It is finished 7. Father, I entrust my spirit into thy hands. To understand fully, the will of Jesus Christ, reading the gospel of John will be quite helpful. It is a summary of the living will of our Lord.

Are you down?
